Foster and Adoption Program

ATA started the rescue/foster/adoption program in 1993 to find homes for the many homeless dogs and cats in Austin. All through the 90's and up until 2006, ATA animals were featured at PetSmart and Petco stores throughout the city and wonderful permanent homes were found for deserving dogs and cats. Our goal has always been to love them as our own until we can find just the right match for them.

Today ATA operates two full-time veterinary clinics and all of our time is spent providing quality care for the animals brought in by their owners or rescue guardians. Our focus has changed from rescue to veterinary medicine. We no longer take in animals for adoption.

Our mission now for injured homeless animals brought into our clinics is for ATA to provide any and all medical care and then assist in the transfer to another rescue group for adoption.

For information on dog adoptions, we partner with and recommend bluedogrescue.com and Town Lake Animal Center.

Animal Trustees of Austin's Partner Organization:
Town Lake Animal Center takes in over 22,000 stray and unwanted pets each year. Many of these pets are friendly and healthy, but just need another chance in a loving, responsible home. Adopting a pet is a serious, lifetime commitment, but if you think you're ready to add a new pet to your family, we have lots of great animals looking for homes! Click here to learn more
