About Us

Board of Directors

The members of the Board of Directors of Animal Trustees of Austin dedicate their time and talent to further promote the mission of the organization.

Missey Morgan, President
As the owner of Urban Living Furniture here in Austin, Missey Morgan brings years of valuable business experience to ATA. A supporter or volunteer for ATA since 1998, Missey has been involved in many areas of the organization, including appointment scheduling, monitoring animals as they wake from surgery, checking out clients at our Wellness Clinic, as well as acting as a foster parent for rescue animals. Missey is an experienced feral cat trapper/tamer/feeder, and she and her husband John founded Austin's first free feral cat spay/neuter fund at ATA, in honor of their most precious friend "Berp" the cat. There is now a citywide TNR (Trap, Neuter, and Return) program to help stop feral cat overpopulation. Through her efforts at ATA, Missey has helped make the community more aware of the plight of feral cats.

Carmelita Cabello, Treasurer
Carmelita Cabello is a state employee with over 30 years of Human Resources experience. In a previous life, she was an elementary school teacher. She is originally from Laredo, Texas, but has lived in Austin for more than half of her life. Although her dedication to animals came later in life, she nonetheless has embraced this dedication without reservation and has committed herself to the vision and mission of ATA. She credits both her teaching experience and her HR experience with providing an insight into the wonderful world of dogs and cats. Carmelita and her partner share their home with numerous four-legged creatures and include any neighborhood creature that ventures into their space as a welcomed guest, needing to be fed. Carmelita also bleeds Orange and is a long-time women's Longhorn sports enthusiast.

Rebecca Bray, Secretary
Rebecca Bray has been involved with Animal Trustees for a number of years, adopting her beloved Aussie Roy, and volunteering through the Junior League of Austin. Rebecca is currently involved with a number of organizations within the Austin area: The Junior League of Austin, Settlement Home, Leadership Austin, and Ronald McDonald House, to name a few. But as the proud owner of Kallie Kat, animal welfare is one of her primary passions. Living in the shadow of the Capitol and downtown Austin, Rebecca is an avid fan of outdoor activities as well as giving back to her community.
