Gary and Richard never intended to have pets, because they love to travel – BUT – one stormy, winter night 11 years ago in Silver City, New Mexico, Gary opened his door and discovered a shivering, muddy and starving huskyshepherd puppy with one blue eye and one brown eye. That night all plans changed, as Gary was completely smitten with this pup. Returning to Silver City when Bacchus was eight, Gary spotted a puppy in a local paper ad and went to see if she might be a similar breed. She wasn't, but there was a connection – and that is how Kossa came to join the family - which was her lucky day, as she had been scheduled to be euthanized. Gary is no longer allowed to go unchaperoned to New Mexico! The dogs rule their acre in Westlake. They get their humans up at first light and enjoy being the center of their humans’ world. And as far as they are concerned, their humans didn't need to travel all that much anyway.
