The names of our next two artists can also be used to describe their painting styles - “Pro” and “Doin It Wright” (aka Dewey). Arabian Show horses, Pro and Dewey live in the barn at Canyonwood Arabians with a large group of other Arabian horses, four dogs, two cats, and a flock of chickens. They were forced to retire from showing due to injuries, but it hasn’t slowed them down. They are having fun with their riders doing trail rides, riding lessons, horseback games, and hanging with their human girls, with whom they have a strong bond. Not only do these horses carry their young riders in and out of the show ring, but they also carry them through the ups and downs of life. The horses help teach the girls to set and meet goals, be gracious winners and losers, to work together as a team, and they are always there to offer a warm nuzzle of unconditional love. To prepare for painting their masterpiece, Pro got new shoes and practiced walking on the canvas, and Dewey had his tail washed and his muzzle clipped, and they both recruited help from some (human) girlfriends. Everyone involved in creating the painting had a great time. Girls, horses, a blank canvas, and a bucket full of paint…what a wonderful way to spend an afternoon at the barn.
