Sophie's Universe

Sophie's painting is aptly named; as it is Sophie's universe, just ask her. One look at this precious pup and you can understand why her parents Beverly and Joel Seffel spoil her and make her the center of their universe. But, Sophie's story could have easily gone another way... her mother along with 87 other dogs were victims of a cruel puppy mill / hoarding operation. Fortunately for those dogs they were seized, and six pregnant females were rescued by Animal Trustees of Austin. Sophie's mother had to have an emergency C-section due to complications from being forced to have multiple litters. And luckily for Sophie and all her fans, today she is very happy and healthy.

Sophie asked her friend Kent Burress to help create the background of her painting in her favorite tones of crimson. She chose a red palette because it is the symbol for courage, love and passion, which she feels represents the Animal Trustees. From there, Sophie added the final touches of yellow and gold to give it just the right amount of depth and to evoke a sense of space and sky. To prepare for her painting session, she ate lots of treats and got lots of hugs. Sophie would like to thank Kent for all his help and all the folks at Animal Trustees of Austin who saved her and her mom's life.
