Clinics

Wellness Clinic

The ATA Wellness Clinic is open five days per week and services are provided on a walk-in basis, so appointments are not required. The Wellness Clinic is located at 5129 Cameron Rd, in the same building as our Spay/Neuter Clinic. Wellness services are provided for healthy animals only. We are unable to treat sick or injured animals. It is important for animal guardians to have a relationship with a private, full-service veterinarian for these services.

For more information about Wellness Clinic services, please call (512) 451-WELL (9355).

VACCINATION REACTIONS

There are generally four possible reactions associated with vaccinations:

Your animal companion might not eat or drink, or might lie around more than usual up to about 24 hours after their vaccination. This reaction is to be expected but should not last more than one day. If your pet experiences these signs for more than 24 hours, please bring your pet to the ATA Wellness Clinic or Spay/Neuter Clinic during business hours (see details on hours for each of these clinics) or take to an emergency clinic (at your expense) if we are closed.

A very swollen face is a symptom of a serious reaction that can cause difficulty with breathing. This can be an emergency situation, and if your dog or cat is showing these signs, please bring your pet to the ATA Wellness Clinic or Spay/Neuter Clinic during business hours or take to an emergency clinic (at your expense) if we are closed.

The most serious reaction that your animal can experience after vaccinations is anaphylactic shock. It is a true life-threatening situation that can result in death. Your dog or cat may not be able to walk or respond to you, may be in a coma-like state, have pale white or blue gums, and/or collapse suddenly. This reaction usually occurs within 1-2 hours after vaccination. PLEASE TAKE YOUR DOG OR CAT TO YOUR EMERGENCY CLINIC IMMEDIATELY! You will be responsible for the expense.

There are other possible reactions to vaccinations that may not be as common or as noticeable. These reactions include hives, welts, excessive vomiting and diarrhea, or swelling at the vaccination site. Please notify us or bring your dog or cat to the ATA Wellness Clinic or Spay/Neuter Clinic if they experience any of the above signs (or any other sign you believe is unusual after vaccinations).
